Tyann G. Hamedi, M.D.

Dr. Hamedi graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine’s six-year medical program in 1985. Through this program she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and her Doctor of Medicine degree at the same time.
She went on to complete her residency in Internal Medicine with the Consortium for Health Education here in Kansas City in 1988. From 1988 thru 1993 she was a private practice physician in Internal Medicine at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
In January of 1994, she decided to try something new and went into occupational medicine with Business Industry Health Group (BIHG), a Health Midwest organization, which later became Employer Health Services (EHS) owned by HCA. At BIHG/EHS she was the staff physician at their Johnson county location in Lenexa, Kansas. She also served as a Medical Director for EHS in 2000-2001; as a medical director she assisted with supervision of physicians, medical record reviews, organizing and conducting monthly physician meetings, and the liaison between the physicians and administration.
In 2005 HCA sold Employer Health Services to Concentra, a national occupational medicine company. During her 3 years with Concentra she was a staff physician at the Lenexa location and in 2005-2007 she also served as the Center Medical Director for her Lenexa location. In 2008 she decided to join Olathe Medical Services, Inc. at their occupational medicine clinics in Olathe and Gardner. Now in 2011, she has joined KCIM to develop a new division of Corporate Medicine and Wellness.
As an occupational medical provider she has worked with companies in the Johnson County area for over 18 years. This has included medical care and coordination of care between patients, employers, PT/OT therapists, insurance companies and specialty physicians. Patient care has included DOT physicals, HAZMAT environmental exams, post offer physicals, minor trauma/laceration repairs, and work-comp injury care. She has also provided medical education and prevention lectures for client companies and medical staff.
She is licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. And has been active member in the ACOEM (American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine) and the Great Plains College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, the organization’s regional society, where she has held several officer positions, including GPCOEM President in 2007-2008.
In her free time, Dr. Hamedi enjoys spending time with her husband and two children traveling, skiing, watching her son play high school tennis and her daughter in theatrical productions, and reading when she gets the chance.
